Background & Outlook
Learn T'ai Chi!
You are invited to join a T'aiChi Ch'uan Class. T'aiChi is an ancient
Chinese martial art and health practice. The immediate benefits are
improvement in strength, balance, breath, understanding your body, and
stress reduction. The longer term benefits are being emotionally "centered",
physically healthy, and in self defense.
T'aiChi is not aggressive. There are no ranks or belts as there are
in other martial arts. Students compete only with themselves. A typical
class begins with a few minutes of standing mediation followed by some
warm-up and stretching exercises. Attention is given to specific postures
and principles. Individuals then work one-on-one with the instructor
on whatever movement they have progressed to in the T'aiChi form. The
class then does the form in unison. Each individual is encouraged to
progress at their own speed and perfect attendance is not required.
I teach an integrated T'aiChi Chain form, and I am in my 12th year of
study. I have been teaching T'aiChi for the last eight years. If you
would like to join the class, please call to verify location. It may
be moved for a special event. Then show up at the park in loose clothing
you can stretch in. Class is one to one-and-a-half hours depending on
class size.
